It’s an ideal life - we go glossy for Ideal Home
It has been glamour a go-go for the PR team recently, with two stylish show home shoots for clients; Bovis Homes South East and Laing Homes North Thames.
The team from prestigious glossy Ideal Home came to us to source locations for their ‘one room three ways’ feature. They found exactly what they were looking for in the sitting room at Bovis’ Blanford Mews development in Reigate and the conservatory in Laing’s Brockley Park, Stanmore.
The result will be a gorgeous six-page feature for each developer highlighting the versatility of these properties in the April and June issues. Not to mention lots of interest from those all-important readers!
Our photographer Damian Hughes went to check out the shoot. Here are his top tips for creating magazine-quality show home photography:
1. Make it look as big as possible! Don’t be afraid to move furniture, remove rugs or coffee tables, to give the illusion of more space.
2. Look for special features like fireplaces to use as a focus - this will naturally lead the eye into the picture.
3. Put a chair by a window, flowers on a table or a sofa in front of an ugly radiator and remove anything that dominates the shot to help create a good, balanced picture.
4. Changing dark cushions or rugs for lighter ones will avoid drawing the eye to them and brighten things up.
5. Think about how you want to light the room. Options include: light and airy, warm and inviting with a lit fire, and the early morning sun streaming through a kitchen window.
